Through out the day, different Green Teams will be providing opportunities for you and your family to learn about various topics important to these students. The DISTRICT: Czech Village & New Bohemia will be celebrating their efforts in historical preservation on the south end of Cedar Rapids and shedding light on local businesses that are making an effort to be sustainable.

Frontier will be demonstrating how to reuse their spice jars for bubbles. Kids will make the wands, decorate the labels, and fill up their jars (provided) with bubble solution. Every child loves to blow bubbles the second the weather starts to get nice! Have fun creating some homemade bubbles with our team and take them home in one of our recycled glass jars to enjoy blowing hundreds of bubbles all summer long!
The AmeriCorps members will highlight the roles and responsibilities of AmeriCorps and the current projects they are involved with. Additionally, visitors can learn how to get involved in the program and other environmentally related volunteer opportunities in the community. In conjunction with the Solid Waste Agency, AmeriCorps will distribute bags of compost to the public.

Iowa BIG will be running a station allowing kids (and adults) to create seed bombs. They have been working with Prairie Crest elementary school students to test our seed bombs. They are made out of newspaper, wildflower seeds and soil. Kids will then be able to take home their “bomb” to plant at home and attract beetles, butterflies and bees.

The Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency invites everyone to come hike/run/bike at Mount Trashmore during EcoFest! The Solid Waste Agency will have staff on-site to talk about the history of the site and provide information regarding garbage, recycling, & compost. There will be a table set up inside the recreation building for people to sign up for the 2022 Trashmore Challenge. Also, Solid Waste Agency staff will be available to help tune up your bike for the summer!
