GreenCR Champions are individuals or groups in our Cedar Rapids and nearby communities who care about environmental health and supporting people in our community. GreenCR Champions work hard to bring that passion to wherever they are--school, work, at home or outdoors.
How to nominate: You may nominate yourself, a colleague or a team. Winners will receive a framed "GreenCR Champion" letter of recognition, presented by the City of Cedar Rapids. Awards are open to people of all ages.
GreenCR Champions take action at home, in the community, at work, or as a student or teacher. Actions like promoting equity, conserving water and electricity, biking to work or school, or picking up litter are common actions an Eco Champ may take. Green Teams often take shape at schools and at work--and those groups can be nominated, as well.
Judging the applications: The EcoFest committee will review all applications. The review committee will select up to two awards.
Award Money! The winners will receive a $100 grant to go toward their sustainability initiative.
Timeline:
Don't forget to come to the main stage area at EcoFest to find out the winner! Cedar Rapids Sustainability will announce the awards at noon. In case of inclement weather, the announcement will be made inside NewBo City Market.
If you have a question about this award or application, please contact Eco Fest committee member Sara Maples at s.maples@cedar-rapids.org or 319-286-5927.
